Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 May 2026

The short version

Ebb is a small wellness reflection app, not a doctor. Use it kindly, don't break it on purpose, and remember that it can't help in an emergency. The long version follows.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the maker of Ebb (“Ebb,” “we,” “us”). By using Ebb you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Ebb.

2. What Ebb is

Ebb lets you log a short daily check-in and shows you patterns in your responses over time. The patterns are generated by a simple rules engine. The phrasing is intentionally gentle and observational — it is not advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment recommendation.

3. What Ebb is not

Ebb is not a medical service. It does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice. It is not a substitute for talking to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, in pain, or worried about your health, please contact a doctor or your local emergency services. Ebb cannot help in an emergency.

4. Your account

You can use Ebb anonymously on a single device. If you sign in by email magic link, an account is created so your check-ins can sync across devices. You're responsible for keeping access to the email address you sign in with. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, but we'll try to tell you why.

5. Your data, your content

You own what you enter into Ebb. By using the sync feature you give us permission to store and process your check-ins on your behalf, so we can show them back to you on your devices. We describe exactly what's collected and how it's handled in our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Try to break, probe, or overload Ebb or its backend.
  • Use Ebb to harass or impersonate anyone.
  • Try to access another person's check-ins or any data that isn't yours.
  • Resell, repackage, or sublicense Ebb without our written OK.
  • Do anything illegal with the service.

7. Our content and software

The Ebb app, brand, design, and supporting materials belong to us. You get a non-exclusive, revocable, personal license to use Ebb for its intended purpose. We may update or change the app at any time, and we may add or remove features.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Ebb running, but we don't promise uptime. The service might be unavailable for maintenance, due to a problem at a provider we depend on, or for reasons outside our control. Local-only check-ins should continue working when the app can load.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Ebb is provided “as is” and “as available,” without any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no warranty that the service will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ebb and the people who make it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Ebb is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Ebb in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) twenty US dollars.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll send a note to the email you signed in with. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Ebb whenever you'd like and delete your account from inside the app (see Delete account). We can also end the agreement if you break these terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the maker of Ebb resides, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. (Please update this section with your specific jurisdiction before publishing — for example, “the laws of the State of [state], United States of America.”)
